    Summary of Responsibilities

The risk analyst is responsible for supporting the process of gathering, analyzing, and managing risk management data, and preparing reports for management and outside agencies as required. This role participates in the review, investigation, and evaluation of actual and potential claims. It acts to identify and resolve problems, concerns, and unmet needs expressed by property associates, residents, and property owners Additionally, this role is responsible for supporting risk management activities, including administering risk management programs, providing risk management education, creating risk management policies, and implementing the changes throughout the organization.

Primary Responsibilities and Objectives

· Contribute to the development and coordinates company-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, and mitigation

· Investigate and evaluate events to identify potential/active claims.

· Participate in root cause analyses (RCA) for adverse or near-miss events

· Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures involving risk management or legal issues

· Develop and present risk management educational programs on risk management, maintenance, operations, or legal issues

· Maintain awareness of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, and assists with reporting, facilitating surveys, and follow-up action plans as required

· Review and approve all risk management-related sections in company leases, addenda, notices, and forms

· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Education and Experience

· High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred

· Two to three years of risk management experience is required

· Two to three years of experience in property management is preferred

· Thorough understanding of federal and state Fair Housing laws is required

· Ability to work independently, under minimal supervision, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency

· Ability to make immediate decisions to resolve problems

· Ability to cope with and defuse situations involving angry or difficult people

· Ability to tolerate stressful situations

· Strong organizational and time-management skills

· Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and sensitively communicate with others, including residents, clients, and all levels of management

· Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

· Ability to use general office equipment, such as telephone, fax machine, printer, copier, and key track system

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Capability to read, write, comprehend, and converse in English

· Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training and other courses if assigned

Scheduling

· Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working outside business hours, weekends, and non-traditional holidays

Environment

· Exposure to an environment typically found in an office building

· Ability to travel as required (up to 10%)
