The Global Transportation Services (GTS) Finance team in Europe is expanding! We support short- and long-term planning for end to end transportation cost, in every European geography at Amazon as well as commercial modelling on carrier negotiations. By building robust financial plans, linking operational metrics with financial outcomes and supporting our business partners make data driven commercial decisions, the GTS Finance Team plays a vital role as Amazon strives to be Earth's most customer-centric company.

As Amazon continues to grow so does the demand for talented Finance Business Partners. We are recruiting for several senior positions across the team to continue to improve our understanding of what drives our cost operationally and identify opportunities for improvement in our executional systems and processes. Managing core finance processes and building complex financial models to support formulation of scenarios and recommendations, you will be at the heart of our investment strategy for the future.

Working with European and Global business stakeholders, you will deliver high-quality financial analysis and narratives that support strategic choices and improve customer experience. You will work backwards from your customer, and problem solve on their behalf. You will dive deep into their requirements, and have the confidence to challenge business partners on the assumptions in their plans to achieve better outcomes for our Customers and Amazon.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with the Network Optimization and Configuration team of EU GTS to build both short- and long-term business plans that facilitate expansion and productivity/process improvement while maintaining optimal Customer Experience (CX) for our end consumers.

• Oversee the Outbound Shipping COGS close processes, including communicating clear deadlines and expectations with finance and business partners across the full Operations organization.

• Finance business partner to GTS Operations teams, identify and communicate insights to drive business actions.

• Lead large-scale EU-wide projects, providing finance support and thought leadership to maximize end-to-end value for Amazon.

• Build robust and scalable financial frameworks and mechanisms that influence and support tactical and strategic decision making.

• Obtain a deep understanding of the EU E2E Operations business and provide tactical and strategic guidance to leaders across EU Operations at all levels. This role will help identify issues across the total Ops org, and provide solutions to optimize and simplify to drive CtS and reduce planning timelines.

A day in the life

The role of a finance leader is to evaluate business decisions and help identify the cost and customer tradeoff decisions our leadership needs to consider. This role is highly influential and requires working cross functionally to drive alignment and pushing the business to evaluate all options to deliver across all KPIs including cost.

Basic Qualifications

  • A degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or another relevant field

  • Ability and strong willingness to use data to answer first time asked questions, and solve large-scale ambiguous problems

  • Experience and ability to lead and structure projects, in particular liaising and collaborating with numerous partner teams to influence direction and roadmaps, despite competing priorities

  • Significant experience in an analytical fields and financial modelling

  • Relevant experience in a finance role including partnering with a variety of stakeholders across the business

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, in particular the ability to synthesize clearly complex issues to senior stakeholders and influence decisions

  • Relevant experience working with Excel and large-scale data mining and reporting tools such as Python, SQL or Tableau

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced or master’s degree in finance, economics or mathematics

  • Experience working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment

  • Experience working in large teams or at a national/multinational organisation
