About the Department
Our Central Service Sterile Processing Team is currently a small team of 5 that supports our surgical services team in Ludington, working to ensure proper processing of equipment, instruments and supplies, including any vendor trays by prioritizing the work load to correspond with medical/surgical floor needs, surgical case loads and physician requirements.
The Sterile Processing Department is a fast -paced/autonomous work environment that supports the reprocessing/sterilization work of all clinical service areas.

Scope of work
Upon hire Team Members are expected to attend a 90-day orientation. While on orientation techs will attend an online/virtual class which will teach the Sterile Processing Department standard of work and regulations. Techs will also have a preceptor while on orientation. This technician will also learn to support operations in endoscopy through reprocessing. Team members can expect to wear surgical attire in the department and will be a part of the entire surgical services staff. Certification is required within 18 months of hire.
This position will orient to the sterile processing role including endoscopy reprocessing.
Cleans soiled instruments and equipment utilizing the appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE). Inspects and tests instruments and equipment to ensure proper functioning. Utilizes the insulation tester, leak tester (flex scopes) and other mechanical/digital validation tools to ensures that proper sterilization occurs.

Required High School Diploma or equivalent
CRT-Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) through the CBSPD Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution required within 1.5 years OR...
CRT-Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) - IAHCSMM International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management Required within 1.5 years
