The Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for development and production support across multiple programs.

This position is in Louisville, KY (Hybrid)

What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineer in an individual contributor role, responsibilities will include:

  • Technical execution of tasks

  • Recommend solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon and at suppliers.

  • Post critical design activities include contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues.

  • Data driven decisions that require preparing technical justification analysis reports.

  • Present to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.

  • Commitment to program schedule and budget

  • 3D parametric modeling.

  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.

What You Will Learn

  • Performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle.

  • Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline

  • Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical design and/or design documentation

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)

  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5

  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics, principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development.

  • Proficient in CREO (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)

  • Active DoD issued security clearance.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
