Kaiser Permanente Technical Director,Molecular Genetics in Los Angeles, California

Job Summary:

Responsible for supporting the scientific, technical, managerial and regulatory aspects of Clinical Cytogenetics; responsible for the assessment, development, refinement and implementation of laboratory testing. Interfaces with Laboratory Management, Clinicians, Technical Staff. Participates in professional activities including publishing, presenting and educating.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participates in reviewing and signing of test reports.

  • Consults with clinical staff regarding test results.

  • Consults with clinical staff regarding appropriate test utilization.

  • Develops, refines and implements laboratory testing procedures.

  • Evaluates and recommends emerging procedures, protocols and diagnostic tests.

  • Provides education to technical staff, students, clinical staff.

  • Presents papers, posters at professional meetings.

  • Publishes papers/reports in peer literature.

  • Prepares information, data and reports for integration into management decisions.

    Additional Requirements:

  • Postdoctoral Cytogenetics Laboratory experience.

  • Previous experience in a Diagnostic Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory.

  • Demonstrated experience in hematological, routine, prenatal, and molecular cytogenetics; strong communication skills.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
