WSP USA Sr. Manager – Rail & Transit in Los Angeles, California

This Opportunity

This Project Manager opportunity entails being responsible managing Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) for the WPLE Extension Project, a heavy rail subway extension of an existing line, including overseeing the delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction. This position proactively manages the technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications in support of the Project’s objectives. Additionally, it requires critical thinking for high level technical tasks while managing and reviewing design and construction related submittals. You will coordinate with internal and external partners including cross-discipline and functional teams to address and problem solve design and construction related issues or concerns. You will be leading a large project team made up of WSP staff and various sub-consultants, and will be in responsible charge of the following tasks:

Your Impact

  • Serve as the primary client liaison and present to the client, the contractor and third-party stakeholders on technical matters.

  • Plan, direct and supervise the execution of all business, technical, and administrative functions of the Project.

  • Work with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to deliver technical support for the various elements of a project.

  • Supervise and mentor team to overall project objectives.

  • Manage review of final design documents, submittals, RFIs, and other Design-Build JV deliverables in adherence to the client’s design criteria and bid documents.

  • Preparation of RFC position papers and response letters.

  • Preparation of Change Notice documents and negotiation of scope changes with the contractor.

  • Review of subcontractor billing and contract scope revisions.

  • Provide in-depth Quality Control and Quality Assurance for deliverables.

  • Real Estate support – preparation of utility easements, revised certifications for TCE extensions.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, prior transit and rail experience, and infrastructure design.

  • 4 years of successful management of engineering/transportation projects.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of California.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $180,000 - $230,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
