Eaton Corporation EHS & Maintenance Technician in Los Angeles, California
Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a EHS & Maintenance Technician.
The hourly rate for this position is 28.00 - 40.54 per hour. The hours for first shift are as follows: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you’ll do:
Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for an Environmental Health and Safety and Maintenance Technician. The LA facility has approximately 250 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
The Environmental Health & Safety and Maintenance Technician is responsible for implementing and maintaining regulatory requirements relating to OSHA, RCRA, EPA, and DOT, as well as working with engineers and technicians daily to ensure our Eaton Los Angeles facility can support the focus factories cadence goals while meeting all environmental, health, and safety objectives.
Essential Functions:
Perform tasks related to Contractor Management Program, Security and Badges.
Ensure all contractors complete required contractor documentation prior to entering facility.
Accurately record and maintain safety documentation and visitor logs.
Recognize requirements and ensure compliance to safety programs and standards including hazard communication, slip/trip/falls, fall protection, confined space, hot work, respiratory protection, lockout/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, hand-held tools, electrical, emergency shower and eyewash, and chemical management.
Identify workplace safety hazards and conditions and perform boots on the ground safety oversight by identifying and correcting workplace hazards and unsafe conditions.
Perform hazardous and non-hazardous waste management including proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal. Monitor waste at satellite accumulation areas and move full containers to Central Accumulation Area (CAA).
Operate a variety of equipment to perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and maintain cleanliness of property.
Perform a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities but not limited to, painting, drywall, parking lots, sidewalks, plumbing repairs, clearing drain stoppages, lighting, flooring, and roof.
Conduct routine office maintenance including mounting TVs, whiteboards, workstations and assembling office furniture.
Assist with emergency response and leak and spill cleanup.
Assist in the setup of events and install/take-down of décor.
Communicate and collaborate with various departments to ensure tasks and project completion.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on technician experience in an environment, health and safety or maintenance role.
• Relocation is not offered for this role. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile distance of the Los Angeles, CA facility (zip code 90039) to be considered.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Position Criteria
• Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a construction and/or industrial environment.
• Ability to work in a high-concentration, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to recognize construction or industrial storm water requirements, Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control plan (SPCC) requirements and address spills in a compliant manner.
• Able to read instructions and blueprints.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with health and safety plans and policies.
• Experience with use of and training for scaffolding, cranes, forklifts, boom & scissor lifts, lifting straps/slings, and fall protection equipment.
• Experience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water.
• Experience using Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade
• Knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and methods
