The focus of the Nelson Lab is on understanding the genetic and molecular underpinnings of Duchenne Muscular dystrophy and developing methods for the solution of undiagnosed and likely genetic rare diseases. The Nelson lab leverages whole genome and exon sequencing, bulk RNAseq, and single cell/nuclei RNAseq experiment to investigate a wide array of biological questions related to Duchenne disease pathology. In addition to studying disease pathology, the Nelson lab to also leveraging these technologies to investigate physiological responses to gene therapies for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy
To address these questions, the Nelson lab is implementing a large scale combination of single cell/nuclei RNAseq, TCR/BCR clonotyping, spatial transcriptomics experiments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cell and molecular biology and a good understanding of recent developments in single cell/single nuclei data generation, troubleshooting, and a strong team mindset to work collaboratively with geneticists, immunologists, and physicians to design, implement, improve, and analyze such experiments.
