This opportunity will own the AWS Supplier Health & Safety Assurance and Development Programs across the AWS supplier base worldwide. They will work cross functionally with suppliers, procurement, and operational teams to establish mechanisms and mental models for supplier selection, assurance, and development. This role will assure hired suppliers meet our expectations, are effectively onboarded, their performance is monitored on key metrics, and that they contribute to Amazon’s efforts to be Earth’s Best Employer.
Key job responsibilities
• Build and develop AWS Global Strategy for Supplier H&S assurance and development.
• Develop a deep working relationship and partnership with legal teams, business units, procurement teams and operational H&S teams.
• Develop and deploy associated programs, tools, and dashboards to manage supplier H&S performance across three procurement organizations.
• Improve upon prequalification, requalification, and evaluation processes. Providing performance data through mechanisms that drive year over year improvement.
• Establish supplier onboarding mechanisms which guide suppliers through AWS H&S management system expectations regarding leadership, planning, support, operational controls, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement
• Secure agreements and develop strategies with procurement organizations for supplier/commodity assurance and development initiatives
• Coordinate global efforts or campaigns to highlight suppliers who insist on high standards in H&S, and facilitate collaboration events which share best practices and lessons learned
• Own the H&S safety management program for Vendor Management, including global updates using PRFAQ.
• Establish mechanisms for procurement teams to equip them with health and safety data for supplier business review sessions
• Serve as H&S Program liaison for contractor outreach, communications, and with Amazon.com World Wide Operations Contract Risk Management Team.
A day in the life
You will own the global function for how AWS manages the H&S of suppliers working for us. You will use data and anecdotes from programs like Avetta to provide intelligence to business leaders on supplier performance. You will recognize trends, launch initiatives to address risks, and automate mechanisms for the businesses to monitor supplier performance.
You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. You will play a key role in interfacing with suppliers in person and through approved channels. You must have diplomacy, patience and tact to earn trust with internal partners.
About the team
You will be integrated with a global network of H&S professionals including program specialists, regional safety managers, and regional safety engineers in operational teams.
Basic Qualifications
+4 years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience.
Experience utilizing Supplier Management Software such as Avetta, ISNetWorld, PICS, Browz, Appruv, etc.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Experience handling confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
Experience defining, authoring, operationalizing safety data management systems and intelligence tools.
