This position would be responsible for providing instructional support for nursing and allied health students in skills and/or simulation labs and clinical settings, as well as providing instruction for designated clinical courses. The Lower Columbia College Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and prepares approximately 115 graduates each year for registered nurse licensure.

  • Lecture rate is $78.33 per contact hour ($861.63 per credit).
  • Lab rate is $58.33 per contact hour ($1,283.26 per credit).
  • Field-based experience rate is $42.37 per contact hour ($1,398.21 per credit).

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

Impart expertise, enthusiasm and creativity in the teaching of nursing. 

Create and maintain an effective learning environment.

Model professional nursing behaviors.

Effectively prepare and present content to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities.

Provide quality instruction in various settings (classroom, practicum sites, simulation and skills lab) adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations.

Competently incorporate instructional technologies in course delivery, both face-to-face and online.

Seek and promote opportunities for student learning and critical thinking.

Assess, evaluate and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes.

Provide individualized support to promote student success.

Provide verbal and written feedback to students in a timely manner, including the grading of assignments.

Maintain currency of course content and materials, including course syllabi.

Protect student, staff and patient safety in practicum, simulation and skills lab settings.

Assure the clinical setting and the selected patients are commensurate with the student's learning needs, abilities, and course objectives.

Demonstrate understanding of the faculty role in assisting the student with the provision of patient care.

Collaborate with the Nursing Program Director and Nursing Faculty regarding student and program issues.

Effectively interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as a member of the educational team.

Uphold Nursing Program and LCC policies, procedures, expectations and standards.

Participate in the nursing program systematic evaluation plan.

Provide academic advising to students.

Fulfill Washington state vocational certification requirements.

Establish and maintain office hours; be available for student consultation.

Perform ongoing student, program and college assessment activities.

Participate in program, department and college activities and meetings.
