Housing Opportunities of SW Washington Maintenance Technician in Longview, Washington

Description

Our Maintenance Technician position provides an opportunity to work in a mission driven organization where your continuous work efforts are contributing to the greater good of the community. In this position, an individual will use their knowledge of repairs and maintenance to keep HOSWWA properties in good condition and ensure that our clients have a good place to live and grow.

At Housing Opportunities of SW Washington (HOSWWA) we work closely with local government and community partners throughout Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Lewis, and Pacific counties to address issues of affordable housing and homelessness and to help families break the cycle of poverty. We provide affordable housing and housing assistance to low-income residents within our service area. The Maintenance Technician provides services to the agency through identifying and repairing maintenance and repair problems.

Your skills and experience will support our mission as you:  

  • Performs cleaning, painting, sheetrock work, plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs to buildings and equipment.
  • Removes and replaces partitions, installs doors and locks.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, and installs pipes for water lines, repairs, and replaces plumbing fixtures.
  • Performs minor electrical work, to include light switches, fixtures, change light bulbs, replace receptacles, and cover plates.
  • Performs exterior and interior painting.
  • Performs concrete work in connection with sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, also on buildings and foundations. Does related work as required.
  • Make estimates of labor, time, cost, and materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay and Benefits

  • The full pay range is $22.87-$31.66 /hour. Compensation for the position is negotiable, depending on the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate. Applicants should not expect to start in the highest range of this salary.
  • HOSWWA offers employees and their eligible family members the option to enroll in medical, dental, vision, and/or supplemental life insurance. Employees are also covered by Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment and Long-Term Disability insurance.
  • All HOSWWA employees are members of the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) administered by the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Employees may also contribute funds to Deferred Compensation Program (DCP), a 457(b)-tax deferred savings plan run by the DRS.
  • Employees receive 14 paid holidays per year, paid sick leave accrual at a rate of 8 hours per month, and, following 6 months' orientation, paid annual leave starting at 40 hours per year.
  • Other benefits include two Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) and access to student loan forgiveness through Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Preference for two years minimum experience in the construction or maintenance of building, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and mechanical trades.
  • Knowledge of and skill in the methods, tools, and practices used in painting, plumbing, carpentry, concrete work, and electrical trades.
  • Ability to keep simple records and make reports.
  • Must have a valid Washington State Motor Vehicle Operators License.
  • Must furnish proof of an acceptable driving record (per Authority vehicle liability insurance provider guidelines) from the Motor Vehicle Division.
  • Must be willing and able to cover "on-call" rotation shifts.
