The Transition Specialist will conduct regular outreach and engagement activities with high school students, including applying to Lower Columbia College, financial aid and scholarship preparation and completion, educating students about dual credit opportunities, and providing direct support with other admissions activities. The Transition Specialist will work closely with the High School College and Career Readiness Specialist at the rural high schools through regular communication, collaboration, data sharing, and training to support students' transition from high school to postsecondary opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Outreach, the Transition Specialist will also support the Director and the Outreach team in event planning and execution, recruitment, and engagement of prospective students within the college service district. 

We are looking for someone who has exceptional customer service skills, is highly collaborative, and willing to go the extra mile to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for LCC's diverse student population.  The Transition Specialist is an active participant of LCC's Student Services Council,  focused on collaboration and coordination of holistic student support across a student's educational journey. Serving as a liaison from the Outreach department, the Specialist must build and maintain highly collaborative relationships across campus with Advising, Effectiveness and College Relations, Faculty,  Financial Aid, One-Stop, Registration, Testing, and other campus services to ensure excellent service and support to students. 

The College Transition Specialist is classified as a Program Specialist 2 and is 40 hrs/week. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with some evening and weekend responsibilities. There is a 5% assignment pay premium for use of Spanish skills in addition to the posted salary range if the applicant is Spanish-speaking (following Spanish assessment). Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

Facilitate outreach, recruitment, and engagement activities with rural high school staff, faculty, students and family members for the purposes of increasing college-going planning and readiness, financial aid application and planning, including FAFSA, WASFA, and LCC Foundation Scholarships, addressing misconceptions about college and access opportunities. 

Establish and maintain regular communication and coordination with High School College and Career Readiness Specialists to ensure seamless transition from high school to Lower Columbia College.
