At a Glance! **The Bilingual Outreach Navigator is responsible for providing specific outreach to the Spanish-speaking community within the district, including attending community events, providing information in Spanish, and translating recruitment material into Spanish. The Bilingual Outreach Navigator also recruits and provides ongoing support to high school students throughout the college service district, including applying to Lower Columbia College, financial aid and scholarship preparation and completion, educating students about dual credit opportunities, and providing direct support with other admissions activities. Reporting to the Director of Outreach, the Transition Specialist will also support the Director and the Outreach team in event planning and execution, recruitment, and engagement of prospective students within the college service district. 

We are looking for someone who has exceptional customer service skills, is highly collaborative, and willing to go the extra mile to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for LCC's diverse student population.  The Outreach Navigator is an active participant of LCC's Student Services Council,  focused on collaboration and coordination of holistic student support across a student's educational journey. Serving as a liaison from the Outreach department, the Navigator must build and maintain highly collaborative relationships across campus with Advising, Effectiveness and College Relations, Faculty,  Financial Aid, One-Stop, Registration, Testing, and other campus services to ensure excellent service and support to students. 

The Bilingual Outreach Navigator is classified as a Program Specialist 2 and is 40 hrs/week. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with some evening and weekend responsibilities. There is a 5% assignment pay premium for use of Spanish skills in addition to the posted salary range (following Spanish assessment). The Bilingual Outreach Navigator reports to the Director of Outreach Services.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

Develop and maintain relationships with the Hispanic/Latino community and provide specific outreach to Spanish-speaking communities through events, such as Financial Aid applications (FAFSA/WAFSA), scholarship or college application support, and attending community events.

Support the Director and Assistant Director in delivering targeted outreach and recruitment activities to historically underrepresented student populations, including communities of color, low-income communities, students with disabilities, opportunity youth, and adult populations.

Demonstrate cultural competence, including awareness and understanding of historically underrepresented populations, and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

In support of the Director of Outreach, develop and implement communication plans to keep prospective students on track with key activities to enroll and advance towards completion and transfer/career goals.
