Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with expertise in Operational Technology (OT) and Cybersecurity within heavy asset industries and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) (e.g., utilities, energy, oil & gas, transportation, manufacturing). This role will be responsible for designing and implementing secure, resilient, and scalable OT security architectures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SCADA, ICS, IIoT, network security, and risk management while working closely with IT, OT, and cybersecurity teams to protect critical assets from evolving cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Architecture & Design
Design and implement secure OT architectures for SCADA, ICS, DCS, PLCs, and IIoT environments.
Develop cybersecurity strategies, frameworks, and roadmaps for securing OT infrastructure.
Ensure segmentation, zero-trust security models, and network hardening are effectively applied to OT environments.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure secure integration of IT, OT, and cloud-based solutions.
Define technical specifications for secure remote access, identity & access management (IAM), and anomaly detection.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
Assess OT security risks and vulnerabilities, providing mitigation strategies to enhance resilience.
Ensure alignment with NIST CSF, IEC 62443, NERC CIP, ISO 27001, CISA, and other regulatory frameworks.
Implement intrusion detection, threat monitoring, and real-time security analytics for OT networks.
Work closely with incident response teams to develop cyber threat response and recovery strategies for CNI.
Support penetration testing, risk assessments, and vulnerability management for industrial control systems.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) security.
Develop OT cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with enterprise security objectives.
Collaborate with government agencies, industry bodies, and internal teams on CNI cybersecurity initiatives.
Drive audit readiness and reporting for security operations in heavily regulated environments.
Technology & Innovation
Lead the evaluation and implementation of emerging cybersecurity technologies for OT environments.
Work with cloud, AI, and ML-based security solutions to enhance threat detection and response.
Guide digital transformation projects, ensuring cybersecurity is embedded in all OT modernization efforts.
Provide technical leadership on SCADA, ICS, and IIoT security architecture and industrial automation.
Desirable skills and experience
Strong years of experience in OT cybersecurity, industrial automation, or solution architecture within heavy asset industries or CNI.
Strong knowledge of SCADA, ICS, DCS, PLCs, and industrial networking protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, PROFINET, etc.).
Expertise in cybersecurity frameworks and standards (NIST CSF, IEC 62443, NERC CIP, ISO 27001, CISA).
Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint security, network segmentation, and zero-trust architectures.
Strong background in IT-OT convergence, cloud security, and secure industrial automation.
Proficiency in architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, or similar).
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred:
Certified Solution Architect (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with OT security experience.
Cybersecurity certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, CISM, CISA, or ISA/IEC 62443.
Experience working in energy, utilities, transportation, or oil & gas sectors.
Knowledge of AI-driven security analytics, digital twins, and predictive maintenance technologies.
