Job Description
AECOM Canada is seeking a highly talented Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician / Technologist for employment based in AECOM's London, Ontario office.
The position will be in AECOM’s Water Business Line and will primarily involve providing CAD and design support for Civil Engineering Staff in AECOM’s London office for the following disciplines: Linear Infrastructure (Conveyance) Group, Water Resources Group and the Water / Wastewater Group.
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the preparation of preliminary and detailed engineering design drawings related to municipal infrastructure improvement projects, water resources projects and water / wastewater projects using Civil 3D and other Autodesk related programs.
Perform both routine and non-routine drafting assignments that require judgment in resolving issues and making design recommendations.
Assist with performing onsite investigation tasks to confirm utilities, sewer and watermain locations, alignments, and elevations in addition to other onsite tasks as required to support the design and construction of various civil engineering projects.
Provide technical and field support with the completion of field monitoring and stormwater sampling tasks
Make decisions based on a general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve results and to meet project deadlines.
Follow project requirements and applicable design standards and regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
- Graduated from a Civil Engineering Technology program or an equivalent program.
Preferred Qualifications :
Understanding of municipal and provincial design and construction standards and specifications.
Understanding of how to prepare engineering design drawings using Civil 3D and other AutoCAD software platforms.
Understanding of how to prepare storm and sanitary sewer area plans and sewer design sheets.
Registered or ability to register with OACETT as a Certified Civil Engineering Technologist.
Understanding of grading design strategies to support land development projects.
Understanding of stormwater management design and servicing strategies.
Understanding of sanitary pumping station and sanitary forcemain design.
Understanding of field surveying techniques.
Understanding of the duties and responsibilities to provide construction inspection.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to deliver work based on project specific budget and schedule constraints.
Strong attention to details.
Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Excellent time management, organizational, communication and writing skills.
Comfortable in working independently in both an office and field environment.
Additional Information
Company will not cover relocation expenses for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $40,000.00 - $50,000.00.
