Position Summary: At Booking Office 1869, our mission is to create memorable dining and drink experiences and to elevate the public’s perception of a hotel dining experience. We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Sommelier who will be able to work with our team during service and serve our guests in this incredible restaurant and bar.

Responsibilities: Here's what your journey with us entails

  • Assisting the Bar Team during service, guiding customers in their journey with their wine pairings and wine recommendations.

  • Assisting in the ordering process.

  • Being exceptionally organised and comfortable working in a busy and fast-paced environment.

  • Thriving on sharing passion for drinks and wine with the team and our guests.

  • Making that sale to a customer because you are a natural salesperson.

  • Delivering outstanding service to our guests.

  • Obtaining knowledge and skills from Bar Supervisors.

  • Contributing ideas with regards to wine nights, wine pairings and events.

  • Being a team player, committed, engaged and respectful.

  • Having knowledge on basic mixology.

  • Cocktail making experience would be a distinct advantage.

  • Leading the team on the floor with the supervisors, ensuring our associates are following brand standards at all times and maximising revenue.

  • Working together with the supervisor’s team to provide the best training opportunities for our team on not only hosting duties but also the sales piece.

  • Attitude, grooming standard, body language and tone need to be positive, supportive and on brand at all times.

  • You and your team are expected to deliver service to your full potential when you are here.

  • You are also expected to carry out other duties that may be required to ensure the overall hotel operation is properly maintained to provide a total guest experience.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a luxury hotel environment.

  • Strong understanding of standards and procedures.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.

  • Detail-oriented with a passion for delivering excellence in customer service.
