Amazon Senior Program Manager, Productivity, Resource Optimization in London, United Kingdom

Do you want to create processes, operating models, and drive Amazon network Productivity Improvements? Do you have a strong passion for continuous improvement? EU Middle Miles Nodes Programs (MMNP) team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated person as a Senior Program Manager to drive productivity and cost-reduction programs across the network.

This role requires extensive cross-functional partnership with various transportation, and finance teams to identify best practices across the network and lead cost improvement efforts. The successful candidate will also lead long term strategic planning, annual planning, variance analysis for monthly/quarterly business reviews, and ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed. The candidate should be passionate about developing insights, setting high standards, providing information that enables dynamic decision-making, developing mechanisms to hold teams accountable to deliver productivity improvements. Your deep analytic skills, strong business judgement, and focus on our core operational inputs will make you a critical partner to operations as you help them prioritize initiatives, identify gaps in process and performance, and remove barriers to execution.

Key job responsibilities

  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationships with your business partners – you influence the decisions. You can root cause issues quickly and uncover core issues using data, then assist, consult with, and teach the business how decisions affect costs in their sites and create new mechanisms as they are needed

  • Build strong partnership with senior leaders to monitor the progress of projects, improve milestones tracking and identify risks and support needed

  • Work alongside senior leadership to establish and prioritise improvement programmes, seeing them through from start to finish

  • Manage the organization's portfolio of projects, ensure alignment with strategic objectives and maintain centralized repository for future reference and analysis

  • Engage other Amazon business units globally to share best practices and improve end to end outcomes for Amazon customers.

  • Work with technology teams and product managers to develop new tools and systems to support the growth of the business.

  • Create benchmark standards and audit process in order to streamline project reporting.

  • Analyse and solving barriers with a focus on understanding root causes, collaboration improvement among multiple stakeholders and effective information flow.

A day in the life

As a Senior Programme Manager, you’ll drive and manage the implementation of creative, data-driven change in Amazon, leading improvement projects and programmes. You’ll use strategic thinking to define and implement an efficient project plan. Some managers are based on-site while others work remotely, depending on the most suitable option for their team and tasks.

Senior Programme Managers have significant responsibilities, and you’ll deal with complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. With a responsibility extending beyond process improvements, you could also contribute to improving other areas of the business, like diversity, equity, and inclusion.

About the team

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field

  • Relevant experience in project management or management consulting including handling multiple ongoing projects

  • Relevant experience using Microsoft Excel, SQL for data analysis

  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of senior stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Passion for continuous improvement and developing mechanisms to reduce defects

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (including facilitating communication)

  • Strong change management and implementation experience, including a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with high levels of management

  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically

  • Ability to drive projects from initially ambiguous states

  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases

  • Demonstrated ability to write detailed project and business plans.

  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously
