Role Summary

To take ownership of the accounting policies of the consolidated Marex Group plc and the subsidiaries within the Group. Review the accounting policies of each location, which may need to comply with local GAAP and review the accounts to ensure compliance. Document the accounting policies for technical accounting or reporting areas for inclusion into the financial statements.

Provide input into new business initiatives from an accounting policy perspective to ensure that the Group can support new business. Provide accounting policy input for new acquisitions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Maintain the accounting policies of the Group and assess the Group's compliance with IFRS policies

  • Determine the impact of new accounting policies and assess how they would be integrated into the Group's existing accounting policies

  • Provide assistance to other parts of finance and in particular legal entity control where required

  • Act as a key intermediary between Marex and the auditors for accounting policy matters

  • Ensure that any accounting policy changes go through process and due governance

  • Optimise the accounting policies for the Group

  • Act as Finance representative in ad hoc programs including certain new business proposals including onboarding of potential acquisitions

Skills and Experience

  • Strong and extensive experience with IFRS

  • Some knowledge of UK GAAP, French GAAP, Singaporean GAAP and Hong Kong GAAP

  • Attention to detail and problem solving

  • Team player ensuring team members are supported and motivated

  • Good understanding of Finance systems, processes and ability to inspire and motivate others

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to deal with Management and Front Office staff

  • Exposure to commodities trading and/or capital markets environment

  • Lead on accounting policy projects to either provide an accounting policy paper, or a valuation or acquisition report.
