THE JOB

As Associate Director, Product Design – Marketplace Discovery you will be responsible for developing and optimising the design of Ticketmaster’s shop window. Your key focus will be to create market-leading fan experiences that drive traffic acquisition, increase engagement, and ultimately inspires fans to buy. As the first-place fans look for onsale tickets it's key that we can showcase our breadth of content, provide a powerful search experience, and use rich-content creatively to ensure fans feel well informed, excited, and ready to buy.

You will be accountable for achieving design excellence, ease of use and task success for your product area whilst working with other design stream leads and management to ensure an industry-leading overall fan journey experience.

As a key influencer you will be responsible for managing stakeholder expectations, aligning team objectives to product roadmaps, and develop achievable schedules to ensure strategic goals and timelines are met. You are capable of complex problem solving, defining new frameworks and , and building strategic relationships and alignment with your Product, Engineering and other Design partners.

As an inquisitive and fearless editor, you will lend a critical eye to concepts and elevate the quality of delivery in innovation, utility, value generation, scalability, composition, content, and attention to detail. You will pull together relevant user and market insights and launch any additional user research projects necessary to build a world class user experience to our loyal audience.

You will role model and coach your team members in design excellence and effective communication and collaboration skills. You’ll manage, pull up, and grow our bench of new design leaders and support them through tactical, day-to-day management and professional development challenges.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Product Delivery, Strategic Planning and Alignment

  • Deliver and scale best-in-class, innovative user experiences.

  • Be accountable for all product design deliverables, processes, and standards across our Global Discovery portfolio

  • Take complex business requirements and synthesize them into actionable design roadmaps and scalable, global UX & brand strategies

  • Lead your team to conduct relevant research, generate meaningful insights and use it to inform and transform features into beautiful, intuitive, and conversion-optimised experiences

  • Lend an astute eye to concepts and elevate the quality of delivery in innovation, utility, value generation, scalability, composition, content, and attention to detail

  • Collaborate with and align goals, schedules, and processes with senior management, stakeholders, and cross-functional counterparts to meet aims and timelines of Ticketmaster successfully.

  • Develop clear and effective design project plans, including user research and design delivery schedules, for all responsible product areas.

  • Set clear expectations and communicate plans and progress explicitly and consistently with senior management, PMO, Product, Engineering and direct reports.

  • Apply critical thinking and rigor to ensure business, client and end user perspectives have all been accounted for and prioritised in context.

  • Ensure innovation, creativity and exceptional quality are part of the final and built solution.

Design Team and Infrastructure Management

  • Lead design requirements discovery and goal clarification workshops.

  • Understand and translate the short, medium and long-term vision and strategic business goals to direct reports.

  • Help stream leads plan and apply appropriate UX & UI design methodologies to support product objectives.

  • Ensure that Ticketmaster visual identity is integrated sympathetically into features and ensure that visual standards are constantly benchmarked and evolved to ensure competitive edge

  • Collaborate with other Marketplace leads and Core team to manage and evolve the Marketplace Design System

Team Growth, Development, Innovation, and Thought Leadership

  • Manage, pull up, and grow our bench of new design leaders and support them through tactical, day-to-day management and professional development challenges;

  • Develop individualized professional development plans for direct reports and coach them through success.

  • Start establishing presence as an expert and evangelize product design through frequent and effective idea shares, communication, and storytelling

  • Develop strong relationships and establish position of influence with counterparts across the organization, beyond the immediate Product, Engineering and Design functions

  • Evaluate and evolve skills to stay relevant; keep skills fresh and be informed of best practices, technical trends and developments

  • Continually introduce new methods and tools to the team to keep team competitive and help Ticketmaster attract and retain world class talent

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)

  • Exceptional grounding in principles, methodology and practices of digital product design with proven hands-on experience in a working environment, i.e. UX design, UX research, interface design, mobile app design, interaction design, brand identity, content strategy, etc.

  • An exceptional portfolio demonstrating strong problem-solving capabilities and systematic or strategic approach to cross-platform product design.

  • Strong track record of delivering multiple concurrent projects on time and on budget

  • Ability to provide a range of innovative and compositionally strong product design vision/solutions directly as well as through team.

  • Proven experience in multi-stream team and line management, professional development and mentoring

  • Ability to think critically, to collaborate and to present ideas to senior stakeholders, clients, team members, product managers, and engineers

  • Expertise in industry standard design tools, i.e. Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

  • Experience working with/on pattern libraries/design systems

  • An understanding of capabilities and limitation of technologies that are used to create powerful interactive experiences: HTML / CSS / JavaScript / SQL

  • A strong understanding of best/tried and true as well as current trends in UX/UI practices and cross-platform development

  • Experience using analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Domo, Contentsquare

  • Practical knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) concepts.

  • Understanding of both Agile and traditional project management methodologies and the know how to deploy them at relevant contexts;
