The ADA Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) within USU, helping employees with disabilities to receive necessary accommodations to perform their job duties effectively. This role involves evaluating accommodation requests, developing individualized plans, and collaborating with various departments to implement these accommodations. Additionally, the coordinator works collaboratively with other functional areas in Human Resources, such as Employee Relations and the Office of Equity to promote and integrate the principles of equal opportunity, affirmative action, nondiscrimination, and inclusiveness at USU.

Responsibilities Incumbents in this classification report to the Human Resource Specialist II (Benefits Supervisor).

  • This position must maintain strict confidentiality with case information.
  • Conducts and documents moderately complex assignments where analysis of situations and data requires the review and interpretation of a variety of factors.
  • Conducts intakes with employees regarding their accommodation requests.
  • Oversees and engages in an interactive process with the employee, supervisor, and medical providers as necessary.
  • Advises leadership on ADA matters and conducts ADA training for leaders.
  • Completes accommodation resolutions for review and signature.
  • Keeps thorough documentation during the entire case process.
  • Accesses and utilizes on and off-campus resources to provide viable reasonable accommodations, such as our disability vendor.
  • Works with supervisors to make sure the accommodation is provided as outlined.
  • Create and maintain the employee accommodation case files.
