Description:

Responsible for managing the consolidation, analysis, and reporting of financial performance for Trinity Health (TH), including specific responsibilities for certain System Office Shared Services. Provides assistance in review of budgets for certain System Office Shared Services. Provides theoretical accounting expertise and identifies and implements improved reporting systems. Works on special projects under the direction of the Director of Financial Reporting and the VP, Financial Reporting and System Controller.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision and values of in leadership behaviors, practices and decisions.

Establishes appropriate structure and process for financial reporting of System Office Shared Services as assigned.

Serves as the primary financial consultant and liaison between System Office Shared Service centers as assigned, Accounting and the department for all financial reporting needs. Acts as a financial consultant and liaison between System Office finance, Trinity Health ministry organizations and subsidiaries for monthly financial reporting, technical accounting expertise, budget consolidation, and various administrative initiatives.

Manages the preparation of consolidated financial statements, narrative and graphical reports for senior management and governance monthly. Reviews and monitors work performed by the financial reporting analysts. Acts on behalf of the director when he/she is not available.

Provides assistance in management review of budgets relating to the centralized shared services programs as assigned.

Manages review of the quarterly reports such as quarterly financial statements and community benefit ministry reporting, including footnote disclosure and preparation of the MD&A, quarterly and annual debt covenant calculations, etc.

Manages the year-end Trinity Health consolidated financial statement audit and coordinates audit activities for Health Ministry Organizations receiving year-end audits. Responsibilities consist of preparation of audited financial statements, footnotes, graphical presentations and information for bond offerings including management discussion and analysis, A-133 audit reporting and other duties as assigned. Manages the preparation of the audit reporting package in Excel and Hyperion Hyperion Financial Management for collection of the annual audit data from Health Ministry Organizations.

Provides guidance and written summaries to senior management and governance relative to alternative accounting treatments under accounting principles generally accepted in the United States and identifies how potential and actual changes in accounting theories will affect financial reporting for Trinity Health and its Health Ministry Organizations. Works closely with Health Ministry CFOs and their staffs in the development of financial reporting policies, procedures and activities.

Works with the Manager of Financial Reporting and Systems to implement, and maintain appropriate financial reporting systems that provide accurate and timely consolidation of Trinity Health financial and operational data. Manages the maintenance of data standards within the PeopleSoft General Ledger System including the TH Standard chart of accounts and departments. Serves as a liaison between Information Systems and the department for all financial reporting needs.

Oversees the development of methodologies, formats, and ad hoc reports to improve analysis and understanding of Health Ministry Organization performance, utilizing PeopleSoft General Ledger, Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion Financial Management reporting tools. Leverages approaches across Trinity Health.

Manages the evaluation of operating performance of Trinity Health Ministry groups and subsidiaries to assess trends, financial exposures, opportunities and prepares written summaries for senior management and governance.

Conducts special projects as assigned by Director of Financial Reporting, and by the Trinity Health Senior Vice Presidents of Finance. Develops project work programs, executes project tasks, delegates tasks and obtains assistance from finance analysts as workflow permits.

Acts as a financial consultant and liaison between corporate finance, Trinity Health divisions and subsidiaries for monthly financial reporting, technical accounting expertise, budget consolidation, income tax consolidation, other regulatory reporting such as A-133 audits, and various administrative initiatives.

Establishes, maintains, and enhances, effective communication linkages between corporate office managers and staff, Trinity Health Ministry and subsidiary CFOs, Controllers and staff, and other multi-hospital corporations.

Collaborates with other System Office programmatic areas such as budget, planning, treasury, human resources, insurance and risk, etc., to provide financial expertise relative to the application of financial data, financial information systems, and other financial management related items.

Requires the ability to manage multiple, concurrently running projects, prioritize tasks and adapt to frequent changes in departmental priorities and to recognize necessary changes in priority of tasks and bring them to the attention of the department director and senior vice president.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

CPA certification is required.

Knowledge of healthcare financial administration is required at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting as well as five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively more responsible experience in public accounting and/or the health care industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Strong accounting theory knowledge.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with healthcare finance terminology and concepts.

Ability to develop appropriate methodologies for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision of daily tasks.

Ability to provide supervision and mentoring to department analysts.

Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of financial systems.

The preferred candidate would have a background in consolidated financial statement preparation, accounting principles, treasury, and healthcare finance.

Must be able to make independent decisions, plan ahead and work under pressure, often within tight timeframes.

Must be comfortable in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position operates in a typical office environment. The area is well lit, temperature-controlled and free from hazards. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard, the copy machine and scanner. This is a fast-paced department in which concentration is required. There are frequent interruptions and numerous deadlines.

This position requires frequent communication in person and over the telephone. Verbal and hearing skills are needed for extensive telephone and in person communication.

Filing of records, binders and other materials requires some lifting, reaching and kneeling. Overtime may be required to meet deadlines.

Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.

Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites. Travel is expected to be minimal.

Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.

Hourly Pay Range: $49.80 - $82.17
