THIS POSITION IS SHORT TERM, MAX 1000 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR

North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Available employment opportunities may range from administrative and logistical support to advanced technical positions.

Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day- to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

The Environment, Safety & Health (ES&H) Directorate in the Technical Services Division for a Sustainability Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the electric vehicle (EV) charging program and support other sustainability efficiency projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the government fleet and personal EV charging program and other projects in various stages from design to commissioning and maintenance. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to oversee and manage projects with multiple stakeholders requiring experience with project scheduling and financials with the ability to maintain site safety and ensure safety standards are maintained.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain an inventory and map of all electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) at LLNL sites and track all new equipment installations.

  • Coordinate EVSE procurements and station activations.

  • Coordinate the service and repair of EVSE at LLNL sites, supporting technicians and third-party service providers with ancillary repairs.

  • Partner with Fleet Management and Sustainable Operations and Resilience Group to maintain a successful EV charging strategy, working with multiple teams in a matrix organization to support EVSE software and hardware.

  • Communicate with customers and off-site third-party service providers to aid in diagnosis or issue escalation and promote the most efficient solution.

  • Collaborate with project management and infrastructure teams to ensure the successful design and completion of EVSE and sustainability related projects related to energy and water efficiency measures.

  • Support and promote the personal electric vehicle (PEV) program. Implement systems to continually evaluate the effectiveness of the program and adjust as needed to improve efficiency, address challenges, and maximize benefits.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory requirements related to zero-emission vehicles.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.

  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education and significant related experience and demonstrated ability to lead independent work.

  • Have technical knowledge of electric vehicle charging infrastructure including product specifications, station activation, and operation.

  • Effective customer service and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively in writing and verbally with technical, administrative, and management personnel and work effectively independently or as a team member.

  • Analytical approach to problem solving with excellent troubleshooting ability.

  • Capacity to handle many functions at one time and adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedule while prioritizing goals.

  • Intermediate level experience with MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, and TEAMS

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • A working knowledge of infrastructure services and project management.

  • Experience with lockout tagout, work controls and electrical safety in a workplace electrical laboratory environment.

  • Experience working within an operating construction facility or project management environment.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing superior customer service.

Special Requirements

Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job-related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Pre-employment drug test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Subcontractor.

Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
