Southeast Region Career and Technology Center is seeking anAgriculture Education Instructor and FFA Advisor for their Lisbon, ND location.

The Southeast Region Career/Tech. Center is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Agriculture Instructor to be a part of our twelve-person agriculture program. This person will teach in Lisbon, North Dakota. Applicants must have, or be eligible for, a North Dakota Professional Teaching License. Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage related agri-science and agmechanics components of a comprehensive Career and Technical Education Agriculture Program. Providing leadership and direct involvement with the FFA are a must. Driver's license required. Requires aBS Degree in Agriculture Education OR at min a BS degree in a related field. Options for certification below -

AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION 1. All instructors must hold a valid North Dakota Educator's Professional License. 1. Traditional a. A bachelor's degree with a major in Agricultural Education from an approved institution. A provisional license to teach in a career and technical education funded program may be available in emergency situations. Such requests will be handled on an individual basis. 2. Praxis Testing Option Licensure a. Must hold a valid North Dakota Regular Educators Professional License for a minimum of two years. b. Must successfully complete the Praxis II Test(s), meeting or exceeding the minimum scores determined by ESPB. c. Must complete two courses within three years of granting a provisional license or verify that they have been previously completed in a teacher prep program: i. a philosophy of Career and Technical Education course ii. a managing Career and Technical Student Organizations course d. Participate in and successfully complete a one-year mentorship with an approved content mentor teacher. Mentorship will include a developed checklist of topics, including safety which is a key element in lab classes.

  1. Alternative Teacher Licensure a. Individual must have an offer of employment from a school to go through the Alternative Licensing process. b. July 1 is the earliest start date for the Alternative Licensure process. c. Consideration will be given to designated teacher shortage areas as determined by ESPB. d. Candidates must have a relevant bachelor's degree in the area to be taught as determined by the CTE State Supervisor for that area. Based on transcript review and a minimum 2.5 GPA. i. Work experience - consideration will be given when determining relevance of bachelor's degree. e. Must pass Praxis exam to measure content knowledge in first year of teaching. f. An Alternative Licensed teacher will be issued a maximum of two, one-year provisional licenses. To receive the second year of a provisional license, a letter of recommendation must be received from the school's Superintendent or Area Center Director. g. Must complete two courses during the provisional period to continue to receive program funding: i. Philosophy of CTE ii. Managing a CTSO h. Must complete Transition to Teaching program.

  2. Alternative Teacher License - Teacher Licensure Option (TLO): Graduate Degree a. Individual must have an offer of employment from a school to go through the Alternative Licensing process. b. July 1 is the earliest start date for the Alternative Licensure process. c. Candidates must have a relevant bachelor's degree in the area to be taught as determined by the CTE State Supervisor for that area based on transcript review and a minimum 3.0 GPA. d. Must pass Praxis exam to measure content knowledge in first year of teaching. e. An Alternative Licensed teacher will be issued a maximum of two, one-year provisional licenses. To receive the second year of a provisional license, a letter of recommendation must be received from the school's Superintendent or Area Center Director. f. Must pass Praxis Core Skills test for admittance to NDSU Graduate School for TLO optio , have 20 hours of experience working with youth, and 3.0 GPA (conditional admittance for lower GPA possible). g. TLO students are required to participate in North Dakota Teacher Induction Program in conjunction with their degree plan. h. Comprehensive computer and electronic presentation skills are essential.

Salary range listed is $60,000 to $89,963 per year plus excellent benefits.

This is a career track/permanent position with the Center.
