Davis Long Term Care commits to providing services with love, care and compassion. *MEDICATION RELATED DUTIES:* 1. Ordering or re-ordering medications 2. Communication with pharmacy, physician and other medical professionals frequently 3. Accurately & safely administer medications to residents as prescribed by medical professional 4. Taking/obtaining vital signs, weights and other similar information, and documenting the information. 5. To demonstrate knowledge of medications, reason for giving and their adverse effects. Take and record vital signs. Prepare lab slips, and collect specimens using approved procedures. 6. To follow all medication administration procedures and protocols at all times. To report any medication errors (personal or made by others) immediately and take appropriate emergency action to protect the health of the residents. 7. To transcribe, document and administer medications and treatments in an accurate, safe and timely manner, (to include insulin, nebulizers, inhalers, and oxygen after proper training) as ordered by Physician according to DHS Regulations and company procedures. 8. Practice needlestick prevention practices including: Never recapping needles, proper use of sharps containers for disposal of needles, and safe use, handling and transportation of needles at all times. 9. Must always wear gloves when required for dispensing medications, (gloves must always be worn for certain routes of medication administration such as eye drops and ointment, nasal sprays, rectal, vaginal, topicals, transdermals, shots / needlesticks of any type), or when contact with possible infectious materials such as bodily fluids or blood (blood borne pathogens /BBP) is possible or likely.
