POSITION OVERVIEW (Job Summary): 

We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder to join our team. The TIG Welder will be responsible for welding metal components with a high level of precision to produce high-quality products. The ideal candidate should have experience working with various metals and welding techniques, with a specific focus on Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. This person should also be familiar with sanitation welding.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist other welders when they have problems setting up their welding machines, or how to weld certain parts and processes.

  • Ordering weld supplies

  • Coordinate weld machine repairs

  • Inventory and coordination of welding fixtures.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Weld stainless steel components for food processing equipment using Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding technique.

  • Follow strict hygiene and sanitation guidelines to prevent contamination of food products during the welding process.

  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate welding of components.

  • Inspect welds for quality and structural integrity, making any necessary adjustments or repairs.

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and production staff to meet project requirements and deadlines.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe working environment.

  • Adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards related to food processing equipment.

  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.

  • Set up welding equipment and select the appropriate welding method based on the project requirements.

  • Clean and prepare metal surfaces for welding to ensure proper penetration and strength.

  • Operate TIG welding equipment to fuse metal components together according to specifications.

  • Inspect welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards and make any necessary repairs.

  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.

  • Always adhere to safety standards and procedures.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve project goals within deadlines.

  • MIG Welding will be required for some processes. Must know how to MIG and TIG weld equally.

  • Purge Welding is required in this role.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven experience as a TIG Welder or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and metal fabrication.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

  • Proficiency in operating TIG welding equipment and tools.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Good physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • Certification in welding or a related field is a plus.

  • Proven experience as a TIG Welder with a focus on food processing equipment or similar food-grade applications.

  • Strong knowledge of welding stainless steel and other food-grade materials.

  • Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Certification in welding and familiarity with food industry standards is a plus.

  • Must have a good understanding of welding symbols and codes.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

    Desirable

  • Welding certification

  • Journeyman’s license

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    As a TIG/MIG welder working with food processing equipment, there are certain physical requirements that you will need to meet to effectively perform your duties.

  • Strength and Endurance: The job may involve lifting heavy objects, carrying equipment, and standing for long periods. Therefore, having physical strength and endurance is important.

  • Manual Dexterity: Precise assembly of machinery parts often requires good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and components with accuracy.

  • Mobility and Flexibility: You may need to work in confined spaces, bend, kneel, crouch, or reach overhead to access different components of the equipment.

  • Visual Acuity: Reading blueprints, inspecting parts, and ensuring proper alignment of components require good vision to perform tasks accurately.

  • Hearing Ability: Being able to hear instructions and safety warnings in a noisy environment is crucial for maintaining a safe workplace.

  • Safety Awareness: Awareness of safety protocols and the ability to follow safety guidelines to prevent injuries while working with potentially hazardous equipment.

  • Stamina: The job at times may involve working long hours in physically demanding conditions, so having the stamina to sustain performance throughout the workday is important.  Example, uncontrolled environments, hot in summers, cooler in winter.
