Achieving net zero by 2045 is an integral part of Convatec’s commitment to protecting the planet and supporting communities through Convatec Cares, our approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Last year, Convatec took an important step on this journey, by setting near term science-based carbon reduction targets.   

To help drive progress in 2024, Convatec is launching a global sustainability internship program across a range of sustainability disciplines, from materials scientists to mechanical engineers – to focus on specific opportunities and help prepare the workforce of the future to drive sustainability. Interns will be placed across our Global Quality & Operations, Technology & Innovation, and Global Corporate Affairs teams. 

Sustainability internship program

Convatec’s sustainability internship program will offer emerging leaders the opportunity to engage in a variety of focused topics during Q3. The aim of the program is to give interns a learning experience that allows the application of skills and development in a professional setting, whilst supporting our subject matter experts to advance key priority projects. 

About the role

This role supports the EHS & Facilities Manager in Boston, US, who will provide guidance and mentorship during the placement. You may also be required to create professional comparative charts, graphs, and tables to support understanding of carbon impact across the enterprise.

• Full time availability for 12 weeks starting in July - 40 hours per week.

• 100% paid internship.

Your key duties and responsibilities:

•Familiarize yourself with and monitor carbon data for our product portfolio, provide analysis, and employ Excel functionality to produce a usable, intuitive comparison tool for product development teams and other interested stakeholders.

• Lead in delivering an intuitive Excel based tool for carbon impact comparisons in support of new product development.

• Evaluate/manage data and compile easy to read reports, charts, graphs for senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.

About you

Mandatory

• Currently studying a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Data Analytics.

• Ability to track and execute project priorities

• Ability to work independently and be an excellent team player working collaboratively and participating in projects. 

• Ability to present and communicate clearly and concisely.

• Flexible, adaptable, and capable of lateral thinking.

• Strong organization and prioritization skills with ability to multi-task.

• Ability to identify, analyze and plan actions to engage with, communicate with, negotiate with and influence stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Strong computer skills in MS office suite, particularly Excel.

• Understanding of product life cycle management/data management.
