Director-Facilities Maintenance Engineering-Evangelical Hospital
Location: WellSpan Health, Lewisburg, PA
Schedule: Full Time
Full Time (80 hours bi-weekly)
Monday-Friday (7:00am-4:00pm)
General Summary
Provides leadership at a local level for WellSpan assigned locations. Locations may include acute site(s), ambulatory site(s), and/or other sites. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities under the direction of the corporate platform. Responsible for directing, planning, organizing, and administering the assigned site's facility operations, asset management, maintenance and repair activities, preventative maintenance program, physical plant operations, and coordination and planning for capital improvement, construction and renovations projects, and outside related vendors. This position is also responsible for the preparation, monitoring, and adherence to the departmental budget. Develops a team-oriented and innovative work atmosphere to support the organization's mission, goals, and initiatives while improving efficiencies, reducing cost, meeting regulatory requirements, and delivering high quality services with best practice and sustainability considerations. Assists Senior Leaders in defining organizational goals and strategic plans for not only their assigned sites but system wide.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Manages the development, implementation, administration, and modification of programs to maintain the physical plant, grounds, and equipment of the assigned location(s) through effective use of personnel and resources
Leads the operations of the power plant and utilities for all assigned locations.
Manages and maintains the plant engineering capability of the assigned campuses and systems for control and efficient and effective use of all utilities.
Manages general maintenance activities, sets up annual objectives, and implements a preventive maintenance program for buildings and associated infrastructure which is supported with proper monitoring and application of the current Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Participates with Facility Services to prepare for and plan short and long range facility needs.
Works in conjunction with the Compliance Program for Facility Engineering Services to ensure program goals are met and compliance is maintained. Develops a program to ensure inspection of building and grounds to ensure conformance with established standards and regulations. Participates as a member of the Environment of Care team if applicable for the assigned site(s).
Establishes preventive maintenance schedules and prioritizes repair and maintenance work to minimize disruption of hospital operations.
Serves as liaison between Facilities Maintenance Engineering and Design and Construction for major repairs, renovation, and new construction to ensure proper work practices are followed.
Works under the direction of the Senior Director-Facilities Maintenance Engineering and in conjunction with fellow Engineering Managers/Directors to develop system wide goals, objectives, and policies in the effort to support best practices.
Leads and directs efforts to support employee engagement, patient satisfaction, personal and system performance standards.
Acts as the owner's representative while attending conferences, job meetings, and other interactions in and out of the facility.
Sets priorities, expedites repairs and makes emergency decisions with respect to failure of plant utilities and/or other related systems.
Develops and manages the on-call system for after-hours Plant Operations and Maintenance support.
Utilizing the principles of Reliability Centered Maintenance and industry best practices, directs and leads the plant engineering maintenance operations for all assigned location(s) through effective use of personnel and materials.
Common Expectations:
Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies, provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates and/or makes recommendations for personnel actions including administration for corrective actions,
Develops the departmental budget(s) and works with leadership to assure that it meets the needs for the respective location(s). This will include Operational and Capital budgets.
Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Directs and leads in the selection of outside services.
Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/system's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs.
Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Travel Requirements:
- Estimated Amount: 5% - Means of transportation to accommodate occasional travel between locations is required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required
Bachelors Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
5 years Facility Engineering experience. Required and
Supervisory experience. Required
5 years Medical setting/experience. Preferred
