Title:
HSSE Director
Location – Leatherhead/Hybrid with frequent travel to other sites within the UK and overseas
The Role
As the HSSE Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health, safety, security, and environmental management within the organisation. You will develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Your role will involve working closely with senior management, employees, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement an HSSE strategy aligned with organisational goals
Identify and incorporate emerging HSSE trends into strategic planning
Develop and update HSSE policies and procedures for regulatory compliance
Communicate policies to stakeholders, ensuring understanding and adherence
Identify and assess potential HSSE risks in operations
Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize incidents
Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant HSSE laws and regulations
Develop and deliver HSSE training programs
Promote HSSE awareness and best practices through ongoing initiatives.
Lead investigations into HSSE incidents and develop corrective actions.
Prepare and submit HSSE reports as required
Develop and maintain emergency response plans
Conduct drills to test and improve emergency procedures
Liaise with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders on HSSE matters
Represent the organization in HSSE-related forums
Monitor HSSE performance metrics and identify improvement areas
Implement initiatives to enhance HSSE performance and culture
What We Need
The ideal candidate should have strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
Extensive experience in HSSE management roles, preferably in a related industry such as manufacturing, construction, or oil and gas.
Proven experience in developing and implementing HSSE programs and initiatives.
In-depth knowledge of relevant HSSE regulations and standards.
Professional certification in HSSE (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Environmental Manager).
