MD Anderson Cancer Center Sr. Pharmacy Technician - League City in League City, Texas

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

IV Preparation 1. Follows standard operating procedures/safety standards (USP 797/USP 800/NIOSH) when handling, preparing, and waste disposal of hazardous drugs. Reports and documents chemotherapy spills.

  1. Demonstrates the correct use of a closed system and maintains competency.

  2. Prepares investigational doses by reading the datasheet, follow protocol directions, care when admixing, documenting thoroughly on the investigational card for each drug. Ask for assistance from a pharmacist if needed.

  3. Successfully completes annual process validations.

  4. Demonstrates strong math skills for pharmacy calculations.

  5. Manages time efficiently by maintaining high productivity.

  6. Demonstrates system proficiency including, but not limited to BD Cato, Phacts, EPIC, and control access cabinets.

Daily Operational Duties 1. Equipment maintenance, including BSC cleaning, stocking supplies, pump retrieval, scheduled QA assignments, cleaning of IV rooms and ante-room, inventory ordering, pyxis support as needed, and water bath and baxa repeater pump cleaning.

Work Schedule Responsibilities 1. Optimizes patient care and customer service by fulfilling all required operational responsibilities including staffing beyond shift as needed to complete all team assignments.

  1. Ability to flex schedule across areas and shifts based on operational needs.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education: Some College

Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Preferred Certification: ACPE Sterile Products Certification.

Experience: Two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center or retail pharmacy.

Preferred Experience: IV sterile preparation experience and prior pharmacy experience.
