How you'll make an impact:

As a Distinguished Systems Architect in the satellite distribution engineering team, you'll lead the software and hardware architecture efforts of our satellite distribution systems that operate 24/7 to provide the signals to our satellite and terrestrial networks that deliver content and services to our subscribers. Working within and across teams, the architectures and system requirements developed by you will drive the implementation of new features and processes, the reduction of operational complexity, and the overall evolution of our systems and their mission-critical functions. In this position you will collaborate with various internal and external organizations to gather and document requirements and develop high level designs and architectures for new features and overall system evolution. This role will also involve supporting various teams with integration, validation, and maintenance of new hardware and software releases and features for the satellite distribution systems.

You'll work with project and program managers to define tasks/work items captured as Jira issues. These items fall under a larger roadmap that overall enhances the satellite distribution system. You'll be joining a small, autonomous team and as such, your work product will have a significant impact / quality of life improvement for our team and Operations.

What You'll Do:

  • System Architecture, Design, Innovation: Lead the creation, review, and sign off of system high level designs, system requirements, and system enhancements for the SiriusXM satellite distribution system

  • Innovative Technology Exploration: Explore new software and hardware system architectures and processes for better scalability, security, efficiency, and redundancy (e.g. migration to cloud or standardized data center computational and storage components, prototype enterprise tools and solutions)

  • System Development and Maintenance: Develop and maintain robust systems for data analysis and visualization, utilizing full-stack technologies to enhance the usability and functionality of enterprise systems.

  • Assist in Advanced System Troubleshooting: Perform high-level remote or on-site troubleshooting and problem-solving across multiple platforms and systems within satellite distribution, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

  • Strategic Contributions: Utilize in-depth system knowledge and engineering expertise to contribute to future system designs and requirements, shaping the strategic direction of technology deployments.

What You'll Need:

  • Professional Experience: 15+ years of systems architecture or engineering experience, preferably in the telecommunications sector.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong background in complex software and hardware systems engineering, including experience with service-oriented architectures, network design, and process workflows.

  • Networking Skills: Advanced understanding of enterprise network infrastructures, with exposure to network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. CCNA-level knowledge is preferred but not required.

  • Programming and Development: Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, Javascript and C++; ability to develop and maintain complex full-stack applications.

  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.

  • UI Development: Knowledge of UI front-end development is beneficial for overseeing projects that include interface design.

  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent public speaking and skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of leading teams and projects while effectively communicating across all levels of the organization.

  • Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team and across organizations and interact positively with diverse staff.

  • Organizational and Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines in a dynamic environment; proficiency in managing full-project lifecycles from discovery to final delivery.

  • Initiative and Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a track record of initiating and successfully driving the adoption of new technologies and solutions.

  • Agile Methodologies: Extensive experience with Agile development methodologies, demonstrating flexibility and efficiency in managing complex projects.

  • Legal Requirements: Must have the legal right to work in the US.

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and the Microsoft Office suite, and the Google Suite.

  • Development Tools: Strong skills in multiple programming languages and frameworks, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Go, Rust, and front-end technologies like ReactJS and Angular.

  • Technical experience in the following areas is a must:

    • IF/RF satellite uplink and general modulation techniques

    • Content Distribution Networks

    • Hardware Management

    • Cloud Infrastructure - AWS, GCP

    • Broadcast Infrastructure

    • Full stack web development

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $185,400 to $217,300 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
