Mississippi Employer Network Administrator in LAUREL, Mississippi

I.            * *POSITION SUMMARY

This position designs, supports, maintains and evaluates the Association's networking and telecommunication systems, under general direction. Also, this position installs, configures, and maintains physical and virtual computer servers as well as the employee network, e-mail and card key access accounts.

 

II.           * *REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:     Information Technology Manager

III.         * *MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Network Administration/Server Support: Oversees the day-to-day operation of Dixie Electric's computer networks including:

A.      Plans, designs, implements, and maintains data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems;

B.      Assists in coordinating computer network projects including documenting wiring plans, researching and recommending LAN/WAN hardware and software purchases, handling system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving;

C.      Provides support for remote network access connectivity hardware and software;

 

D.     Maintains LAN/WAN user documentation including hardware and software applications, support logs and other related information;

E.      Assists in designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware and software;

F.       Analyzes and troubleshoots networking equipment logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems;

G.     Monitors network use to ensure security of cooperative data and the access privileges of employees, contractors, and vendors;

H.     Installs, supports and maintains both physical and virtual network servers and appliances;

I.        Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the Storage Area Network (SAN);

J.        Establishes and maintains domain user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security;

K.      Performs daily server data backups and coordinates with vendors to perform and maintain offsite copies of backups and replicated files;

L.       Researches, analyzes, monitors, troubleshoots and resolves server or data network problems;

M.   Develops, maintains and implements network equipment configuration, support and archiving procedures;

N.     Researches and evaluates new technologies related to computer networking;

O.     Assists in planning, coordinating and consulting with vendors and clients for hardware/software purchases, product services and support;

P.      Recommends and specifies the purchase of related products and services;

Q.     Keeps current regarding new hardware/software products for system enhancements;

R.      Assists and provides support to the IT Manager as requested including performing scheduled network tasks, updating anti-virus definition files, monitoring network servers, and providing internet and intranet user support and specialized training.

S.       This position also provides e-mail, Internet access and systems support, including establishing and maintaining user e-mail accounts; provides e-mail training and software support; provides e-mail documentation and updates employee handbook as needed; manages anti-spam and anti-virus servers; researches and troubleshoots e-mail problems by reviewing mail logs, records, and network configurations.

T.      Establishes and maintains card key access accounts for physical access to company buildings and property; provides solutions to customer identified problems.

U.     May lead, train, or participate in work team assignments, including but not limited to, software or hardware training, employee skills training or documentation.
