Austin Industries Night Shift Engineer (Farmers Branch, TX) - Austin Bridge & Road in Las Colinas, Texas

Austin Bridge & Road has an outstanding opportunity for a Night Shift Civil Engineer for a large project in Farmers Branch, TX . The Civil Engineer is on the Project Manager career-track and assists the Project Manager and Project Administrator in a variety of engineering functions identified as procurement and expediting of construction materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Procurement of materials

  • Detailed estimation of costs on proposed changes

  • Update of contract plans and master schedules

  • Overall responsibility of submittals

  • Responsible for tracking materials, project coordination and safety

  • Analyze, review and update job cost information

  • Process change orders as required by project owners

  • Manage subcontractors

  • Requests for information responses from owners and subcontractors

  • Assists in the compilation of close-out documents, including drawings, guarantees, warranties and service manuals for delivery to the owner

  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent preferred, but may be substituted by experience.

  • Experience with demolition, earthwork concrete paving, setting temporary concrete barrier, etc. a plus

  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

  • Must be highly organized with an attention to detail

  • Be an effective communicator with strong customer service skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and meet deadlines

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher

  • Valid driver’s license

  • 5+ years of experience in earthwork, paving, etc. TxDOT highway work required

  • Requires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperatures

  • Must be able to work one of two shifts:

  • Open to swing shift (noon to midnight)

  • Night shift (6pm – 5am)

  • Must be able to work on call as needed

  • Project will entertain rotation from days to nights every few months or similar if needed
