Austin Industries has an outstanding opportunity for an assistant building engineer at our corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas. The Assistant Building Engineer is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of commercial office buildings. This person will work with the Lead Building Engineer and Property Management and travel as needed to various locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and Houston.
Responsibilities:
Ability to perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and general building repairs in a timely manner.
Performs and/or complete all tenant service requests accurately and expediently.
Maintains the professional appearances of the property and equipment.
Ensures that work performed in client space is accomplished with a minimum of disruption and is followed by adequate cleanup.
Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
Monitor and replace light fixtures as needed.
Promotes safety among all building tenants, vendors, and visitors.
Assists in preparing the Building Maintenance budget.
Manages asset maintenance and oversees service contractors.
Administers card access equipment and support data management for access systems.
Responds quickly to emergency situations and customer concerns.
Maintains ongoing communication with tenants, clients, property management, and vendors.
The majority of travel will be between properties located in the DFW area; light travel to Houston properties as needed.
Qualifications:
3 – 5+ years of commercial property experience in Class A and Class B offices.
Construction knowledge a plus
Strong knowledge of building systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems
Must be highly organized with an attention to detail
Be an effective communicator with strong customer service skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and meet deadlines
Ability to adapt to changing portfolios
HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical Journeyman or Master level certification plus
Familiarity with Energy Management and Building Automation Systems and Preventative Maintenance scheduling software.
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED or higher
Knowledge of MS Office and work order software (MRI Angus or similar)
Valid driver’s license
Ability to travel as needed to various locations across the Dallas/Fort Worth area and Houston
Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry heavy items more than 50-lbs
Must be able to work standing up all or most of the time
Must be able to work on tall ladders and on roof tops up to 12 stories high
Requires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperatures
Must be able to work on call as needed
