Ingham County Human Resources Temporary Food Services- Customer Service Attendant II- Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan

Under the supervision of the Customer Services Manager performs all duties with an exceptional customer experience focus. Assists Customer Services Manager in providing work direction to the Customer Service Attendants in the Savanna Grill and other food service locations throughout the zoo, ensures food & supply inventory is stocked appropriately in all food delivery locations and any needs identified to Customer Services Manager daily. Takes pride in providing an excellent customer experience for our guests. Understands the importance of nourishing team member's motivation and support, and is naturally passionate about conserving the earth and its resources.
Prepares quality food options for our guests ensuring current health code standards are met/or exceeded. Participates in menu development. Completes required reports. Supports others in properly maintaining all equipment in designated work areas. Ensures dining and customer seating areas are clean and in a sanitary condition for our guests. Communicates required repair or maintenance needs effectively. Provides effective cash drawer and change bag management. Performs duties of the customer service attendant as needed and always leads by example.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates and inspires others in friendly and helpful customer service techniques.
- Performs meal preparation, customer service delivery, inventory, and clean-up duties daily.
- Takes initiative in guest dining, seating, and display areas to ensure a 'fresh' look and feel for our guests throughout the day.
- Exhibits a positive, "can-do", "guest-first" approach with all guests, as well as co-workers.
- Assists Customer Services Manager in providing work direction and support to food services temporary Customer Service Attendants.
- Verifies nightly cash drops, counts drawers, and sets up for next day's business.
- Participates in preparation of weekly food order, and is creative in menu development.
- Requests needed supplies, such as food inventory, office supply, cleaners, etc. and resupplies all daily work areas as needed.
- Prepares assigned reports in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions with zoo membership, daily visitors, and zoo staff team members at all times.
- Ensures all scheduled group food reservations are delivered with the highest quality and on time, communicating with group leaders upon their arrival to the zoo.
Other Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must adhere to departmental standards in regard to State of Michigan Food Safety Code, HIPAA and other privacy issues.
- During a public health emergency, the employee may be required to perform duties similar to, but not limited, to those in his/her job description.

*Education: *High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
- One year prior food preparation, cash handling, and customer service experience required.
- Ability to successfully complete ServSafe Certifications within first 90 days or be current in ServSafe Food Handler & ServSafe Allergens certifications.
Other Requirements:
Knowledgeable and proficient in Zoo's point-of-sale (POS) system in order to accurately and efficiently process guests' transactions in compliance with Zoo policies; Ensures accurate processing of
