The Role

A Sr Lead Engineering Program Manager for the Lumen Digital Engineering team is responsible for overseeing multiple projects and programs, often with a broad scope and high level of complexity. You will work closely with senior leadership to align projects with organizational goals and strategies. These programs and projects play a key role in driving innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, managing and delivering multiple complex, technical projects from Concept phase through Launch / Implementation (production roll-out) simultaneously.

  • Deliver projects on-time, within scope and within budget.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive, strategic project plans to manage resources, to ensure proper task alignment and sequencing, and to identify the project’s critical path.

  • Develop and maintain master program plans and schedules to plan Engineering and other teams’ resource scheduling, to minimize resource contention and to monitor the overall program.

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships across the organization and beyond, with both internal and external resources (including software and hardware vendors) to plan, schedule and coordinate work successfully for the most efficient project execution.

  • Facilitate regular and ad hoc project team meetings to keep resources on track, to bring responsible parties together to solve issues and to provide a forum for team discussions.

  • Track and report regularly on program status and performance, using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.

  • Perform risk assessment regularly, implement risk mitigation strategies or recovery plans, and communicate and/or escalate issues to management.

  • Adhere to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices in coordinating internally developed software releases.

  • Develop and maintain the departmental program portfolio; work with outside teams to align priorities and resources; and be responsible for all portfolio-level documentation and reports, including but not limited to the departmental scorecard, weekly team reports and quarterly management reports.

  • Develop and maintain yearly budgets for submission to operations and corporate entities. Coordinate all CapEx process including all capital submissions, working with Finance-Operations for business cases; manage order schedules with planning organization and monitor status to delivery.

  • Create and maintain project metrics for performance improvement for management. Develop and maintain department development lifecycle and processes based on engineering standards – including document standards (PIF, ERDS, FCAPS and Operations documents).

  • Facilitate regular meetings with vendors and maintain vendor Plans of Record to track feature enhancements and bug fixes to resolution and delivery.

  • Ability to understand quickly the technical aspects of a product, service or engineering initiative, explain these to a less technical audience and translate them into a project schedule, across multiple technologies, product lines and services.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required

  • Requires 15 years plus experience working with or knowledge of complex, technical architecture and solutions for telecommunications networks.

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to lead disciplined, innovative, strategic or tactical planning with other internal technical stakeholder groups.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Visio and Word.

  • Knowledge of project management PMI standards and processes.

  • Experience in P&L management, and financial planning and forecasting.

  • Advanced time management, organizational and analytical skills.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • PMP certification or equivalent.

  • Experience in developing and maintaining large, complex, integrated schedules for multimillion dollar programs / projects with multiple sub-projects / components.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.

$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.

$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
