Job Description

 

General Purpose of Job:  

Facilitate the production and delivery of food and service in all Retail areas of the Sparrow Campus.

 

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis.  Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

 

  • Assume leadership role in the absence of the Retail Manager
  • Take ownership of all aspects of retail foodservice, including scheduling, staffing, ordering (in conjunction with purchaser), food production (in conjunction with chefs), customer service, financial performance, safety and sanitation
  • Demonstrate and encourage exceptional internal and external customer service through all phases of Retail service and dining
  • Facilitate service in public retail areas, as well as assisting catering.
  • Ensure the adherence to all standard operating procedures and controls for retail areas.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels for Retail Caregivers, including monitoring performance of hourly Caregivers, providing coaching and discipline as necessary. 
  • Assist Diatetic Interns through the Retail portion of their program requirements
  • Maintain safety and sanitation standards
  • Initiate and oversee equipment repairs
  • Utilize evidence based best practices to influence the continuous improvement of Retail service
  • Take responsibility for all monetary practices within the department, including the training of Caregivers in proper procedures and insisting on a high level of integrity from all money handlers
  • Coordinate with Retail Manager, Clinical Nutrition Manager, Executive Chef and Director to ensure consistant high quality service throughout the department.
  • Maintain hospital standards through speech and action, leading by example to support and demonstrate ICARE Values
  • Utilize a proactive approach to leadership and communication
  • Provide constructive feedback
