Hiring Salary Range: $23.90/hour - $35.85/hour

Compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications. The actual offer may vary, reflecting the candidate's unique blend of experience, educational background, and skill level.

The Line Clearance Technician Trainee is responsible to assist with safely clearing trees and brush in transmission line corridors.

The Impact You'll Make In This Role:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  1. Learn all applicable safety rules and work practices and apply as appropriate

  2. Participate in safety meetings

  3. Communicate safety issues to public when appropriate

  4. Operate CDL vehicles and assist with vehicle maintenance

  5. Communicate effectively with coworkers, foreperson and supervisor

  6. Ability to obtain herbicide license

  7. Ability and desire to learn and perform:

  • Pre-job briefing participation and safety concern communication as appropriate

  • Vehicle preflight inspections

  • Herbicide application

  • Basic chain saw maintenance and operation

  • Basic knot tying

  • Basic machine functions and operations

  • Manual labor associated with clearing

  • HR and payroll reporting

  1. Other duties as assigned

NATURE AND EXTENT OF FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY : Safe maintenance and operation of vegetation clearing equipment.

Your Experience and Expertise:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Previous vegetation clearing-related experience is preferred. Requires Class A CDL with no restrictions.

Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively communicate and interact with co-workers and property owners

  • Basic computer skills needed (GIS, timesheets and travel reimbursement requests)

  • Safety awareness and the ability to learn

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

  • Must obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator license within 30 days

  • Must obtain a First Aid and CPR certification within 1 year

Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, twisting upper body, bending, reaching/stretching, lifting, carrying and pulling to clear brush and operate equipment. Manipulate ropes, winch cable, spray can, and brush/wood weighing up to 100 pounds. As part of a team, manipulate hoses (1000 feet long). Ability to negotiate uneven terrain.

Environmental Demands: Work outdoors, occasionally in extreme cold or heat. Work around mechanical, electrical, fume/odor, dust, chemical and natural hazards. Work in a high noise environment.

Other Job Characteristics: Considerable travel. Moderate supervision; team-oriented. Will be part of random DOT drug testing pool.
