Mott MacDonald Group Project Scientist - Wildlife Biologist in Lakewood, Colorado

We are seeking a talented and experienced Project Scientist who can provide field and technical support for a variety of infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will report to Mott MacDonald's environmental lead in Salt Lake City, UT. We would prefer this individual be located in the Western United States; however, are willing to entertain other Mott MacDonald office locations. As a Project Scientist, your key responsibilities will include: Working with multidisciplinary teams to assist private sector clients seeking regulatory approvals and permits from governmental authorities both domestically and abroad. Coordinating and communicating with clients and agency staff. Gathering and analyzing project and site information and assisting with the preparation of permit applications and associated documentation to comply with federal, state and local regulations. Conducting habitat assessments and/or interpreting data gathered by field crews. Managing field crews and mentoring junior team members and newly hired biologists/ecologists Development of technical reports and environmental documents. Conducting consultation with agency staff as required under Sections 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act, Sections 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act, and preparing biological inventories. Conducting impact analysis for NEPA documents and State-level permitting processes.

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience: A bachelor's degree in environmental science or a biological discipline; holding a master's degree in wildlife biology is preferred; Ten years of experience as an environmental consultant in the power, oil and gas industries (master's degree will be credited as two years' experience; Experience permitting large-scale energy projects and conducting field surveys with specific experience with linear projects and the FERC (Natural Gas Act) permitting process, renewables generation permitting (i.e., solar, on- and off-shore wind, and hydro); and electrical transmission permitti Background in wetland and/or wildlife ecology, botany is required (GIS experience a plus). Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills, documentation, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are The ability to prepare and interpret complex reports, recognize problems and define and evaluate solutions; Candidate must have good interpersonal and time management skills. Strong work ethic and leadership skills are required. Candidate should be able to hike 5 - 10 miles/day in difficult terrain/conditions; Excellent teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

In compliance with the Equal Pay Transparency Rules for Colorado, the expected salary range is from $115,000-130,000.
