Job Summary
This position plays an integral part in developing and implementing sourcing strategies for the buying desk. Will be responsible for performing spot buys, sourcing events, and project-related activities for direct materials categories.
Key Responsibilities
• Complete one-time or low-complexity sourcing requests as part of the Procurement Excellence Buy Desk
• Capture and analyze data using procurement spend analytics tools
• Work with Market Intelligence team to research and identify potential suppliers for sourcing requests.
• Perform basic cost and scenario analysis to analyze supplier bids
• Research potential vendors, develop and complete support RFP for spend less than $1M per annum.
• Partner with customers to ensure clear requirements' documentation is translated to RFP and contracts as appropriate.
• Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking to inform sourcing strategy.
• Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing delivering with suppliers and record annual P&L savings.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior sourcing generalists on category-specific requirements.
Competencies
Functional & technical skills
•Experience with sourcing process, vendor management, contract negotiations and procure to pay operations
•Expertise in sourcing tools (e-sourcing, spend analytics, ERP, supplier management software)
•Negotiation skills – will need to solicit bids and negotiate purchases directly with suppliers
•Breadth of experience across Direct Sourcing categories
Leadership & Behavioral
• Agility and flexibility to develop expertise across sourcing categories in areas complementary to the existing team
• Desire to grow and develop as a sourcing specialist and develop category expertise across Direct portfolios (e.g., Lab Supplies, Mechanical, Packaging or Chemicals)
• Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment – self-starter who looks for ways to improve existing processes
• Strong customer service orientation, keen to deliver on internal customer needs
• Independent worker with ability to handle own deadlines
• Ability to gather, interpret and analyze data to advise sourcing decisions.

Experience & Qualification
• 3+ years of procurement experience within Direct categories (e.g., electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, chemicals, packaging)
• Shown working experience as a buyer, senior buyer, purchasing specialist agent or officer.
• Degree in engineering, supply chain management, operations or business administration
• High level of English language proficiency (verbal and written)
