Dairyland Power Cooperative Accounting Analyst II in La Crosse, Wisconsin

Under general supervision, perform accounting work requiring professional knowledge of theory and practice of recording, classifying, examining and analyzing data records for various financial transactions. Collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams, actively participate in the execution of the month-end close process and uphold adherence to established accounting standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Analyze and account for general ledger data transactions and prepare appropriate journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.

  2. General accounting duties will include work related to the following tasks:

• Analyze, maintain, and reconcile general ledger accounts.

• Record journal entries accurately in the general ledger.

• Prepare required filings and reports for GAAP and Regulatory compliance.

• Asset in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheet, income statements.

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance with accounting standards.

  1. Audit Support:

• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits.

• Prepare necessary documentation and respond to audit inquiries.

• Ensure compliance with audit inquires.

• Prepare analyses/schedules for auditors as assigned.

  1. Assist in the month-end and year-end closing process.

  2. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist with special projects requiring knowledge of the general accounting function, financial reporting, and applicable accounting standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance. Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in accounting, with thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures applicable to the utility or similar industry. Utility industry experience is desirable.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of financial systems

• Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills preferred

• Change management/process improvement experience preferred

• Ability to manage confidential information

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external

• Excellent attention to detail
