A.T. Still University ATSU - Security Officer in Kirksville, Missouri

Description

A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a non-exempt day shift campus safety officer. The campus safety officer will be responsible for all matters of security on assigned shifts. The CSO monitors security Cameras and provides protection and security for all assigned properties of A.T. Still University, Kirksville Campus.

Major Job Duties

  • While working standard dayshift hours, the CSO will assist the 24 hour Campus Safety team which includes first, second and weekend shifts per request.

  • Will provide customer service to Students, Faculty and Staff within the Campus Safety Office or satellite location.

  • Will assist in the creation of new ID Badges and update electronic access within the access control platform.

  • Manages lost and found property, including inventorying and disposal.

  • Lock and unlock selected doors on a daily basis according to departmental procedures.

  • Assist in the Patrol of the premises on a nonscheduled basis.

  • Check premises for fire and safety hazards on a daily basis and report any hazards found to the Security Supervisor immediately.

  • Perform confidential investigations in matters pertaining to alleged losses, thefts, and wrongful acts of individuals affecting security and complete an incident report accurately as needed. Investigative responsibilities do not extend to matters governed by ATSU Policy 90-210 Prohibition of Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation. Instances of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation must be referred to the Title IX and Civil Rights Coordinator.

  • Question strangers and make sure they have a legitimate reason for their presence as needed.

  • Respond within a timely manner to emergency calls as needed.

  • Responsible for maintaining the Reports Management System(RMS) and the distribution of safety and security-related incident reports.

  • Maintain registration files of employee and student vehicles as needed.

  • Ensure parking regulations are in compliance with policies on an ongoing basis.

  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned or directed.

  • Control parking by use of citations and assistance on an ongoing basis as needed.

  • Enter data accurately into the computer on an ongoing basis.

  • Maintain accurate record reports, statistics, and files for security on an ongoing basis.

  • Check proper functioning of two-way radios and other equipment on an ongoing basis.

  • Maintain fuel, oil and coolant at proper levels on the security vehicle.

  • Assist in developing departmental goals and objectives.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • Daily log, incident reports, lost and found log, daily crime log, fire extinguisher check log, daily work order reports.

Education/Experience/Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 3-6 months experience preferred, could be acquired on job.

  • Work independently with limited supervision

  • Interact effectively with various segments of the public including, but not limited to, ATSU/KCOM/SHM faculty, employees, students, patients, and visitors.

  • Maintain accurate records and files.

  • Follow written and oral instructions.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience in security preferred.

  • Valid Missouri drivers license required.

  • Use of the two-way radio and pager.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to be creative and take individual initiative and responsibility

  • Knowledge and understanding of dispatching procedures highly desirable

  • Strong attention to detail, able to multi-task and understand the importance of timely follow-through

  • Experience working with different Software platforms which will include, Door access systems, Surveillance camera systems Report Management Systems and Service request systems.

  • Computer.
