Google Staff Software Engineer, AI/ML Compute in Kirkland, Washington

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in software development.

  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.

  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

  • 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure, including model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, and debugging.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.

  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

  • Proven track record of collaborating directly with customers and field teams

  • Proficient in cloud services such as Compute, Storage, and Networking, preferably on GCP.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Partner with customers to benchmark AI/ML model performance on Google Cloud compute and overall infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with internal infrastructure teams like Storage, Networking to enhance support for demanding AI workloads.

  • Conduct in-depth performance profiling, debugging, and troubleshooting of training and inference workloads.

  • Design and implement specialized ML solutions, effectively leveraging advanced ML infrastructure.

  • Role may include up to 10% business-related travel to the customers and partners within the US.
