Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe Health Services Assistant Director in Kingston, Washington

Job Summary: The Health Services Assistant Director is a member of the executive leadership team. They oversee all Community Health Center operations and provide direct management to the program management team. The Assistant Director will direct the formulation of goals, objectives, strategies, programs, and budgets, coordinate work schedules, and ensure efficient team management and development, program delivery, evaluation, and quality control of all activities in conjunction with the executive leadership team.

[Leadership and Management]{.underline}:

  • Acts as second in command in the absence of the Health Services Director.
  • Takes a lead role in selecting and approving attendance, performing reviews, onboarding, and addressing any disciplinary issues with supervised staff.
  • Manage the team's performance, conduct monthly meetups, and provide real-time and consistent coaching with all direct reports.
  • Ensure team accountability, including adherence to policies, procedures, guidelines, workflows, etc.; address attendance, performance, and behavior concerns; and take corrective action if necessary.
  • Assure that all employees are adequately trained to perform their duties within their scope of practice. This includes assisting in staff orientation to policies and procedures and delegating staff orientation to qualified clinical personnel.
  • Empowers and mentors management staff in their personal development of leadership skills and leads the team to build a teamwork approach to providing high-quality care to the community.
  • Demonstrates compassionate and professional conduct to inspire the trust, confidence, and respect of patients, providers, and center staff.
  • Actively engages staff with updates and news, as well as involving staff in decisions and work teams.
  • Assures adequate staffing coverage for the Center by coordinating with management staff to maintain a monthly and daily calendar of staff and provider scheduling and after-hours, on-call schedule.

  • Accomplishes department objectives by supervising program managers and organizing and monitoring work processes.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Plans, monitors, and appraises job results.
  • Assures staff maintain regular work hours to provide consistent center service to the community.

[Meetings]{.underline}:

Attends and participates in various community meetings and staff committees whose goals directly or indirectly relate to the S'Klallam Health Center's objectives. These include staff meetings, Health Advisory Meetings, HS Budget meetings, health center provider meetings, and other meetings the HS Director assigns.
