Use charts to track | | all shelter animals. | | - Act as receptionist. Present a positive customer service | | approach. | | - Operate FCC licensed two radio and dispatch officers. Assign | | calls for service. | | - Assist staff with communications to other agencies and the | | general public. | | - Prepare routine letters and notifications. | | - Managethe Animal Protection Borough webpage content, and | | facilitate social media, PSAs or regular community programs. | | - Maintain computer files, tally mileage reports and supply | | statistics for monthly, quarterly and annual reports. | | - Clean all animal cages/kennels on a daily basis adhering to | | prescribed procedures for disinfecting and maintaining a healthy | | shelter. Wash and disinfect animal laundrey, litter pans, and | | food and water bowls daily and as needed throughout the day. | | Sweep and mop shelter floors with the provided disinfectant daily | | and as needed throughout the day. | | - Care for, feed, and administer medication to animals in the | | shelter, under the direction of a licensed veterinarian and the | | Director. | | - Enforce KGBC Title 6; investigate reported violations in order to | | reach code compliance. Accomplish compliance through education, | | when possible. Exercise discretion at all times and issue | | citations or cause citations to be issued, as appropriate. | | Prepare the case file and work with the Borough Attorney | | prosecuting the case. | | - Testify in court or administrative hearings. | | - Assist the general public in registering, adopting and | | surrendering animals. Maintain inter-office adoption boards and | | notice boards. | | - Prepare accurate incident reports, legal forms, daily logs and | | other documents in compliance with Borough and departmental | | records maintenance policy. | | - Collect fees in accordance with Assembly direction and process | | departmental deposits on a daily basis. | | - Work with general public by explaining Borough policies and | | procedures. Deal professionally with distraught citizens as | | occasions arise. | | - Adhere to departmental policies and procedures. Assist in setting | | department goals and objectives on an annual basis. | | - Conduct behavior analysis of animals as they come into the | | shelter and make recommendations regarding adoption or medical | | treatment that may be needed. Track behavior of animals and log | | all medical treatments provided in the assigned chart. | | - Patrol Borough area roads and respond to calls for service in the | | Borough's Animal Protection vehicles. | | - Capture, transport and impound stray, surrendered, injured, | | potentially dangerous, and dangerous animals. Pick-up and impound | | dead animals. | | - Assist in conducting behavior analysis on animals and transport | | animals to a licensedveterinarian for medical assessment, | | diagnosis, and treatment modality. Consult with the licensed | | veterinarian on all animals that are candidates for | | humaneeuthanasia. | | - Load and transport cadavers for cremation. | | - Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours services, | | adhering strictly to the on-call policy provided in the SOP. | | - Work with MOA organizations and partnering agencies to achieve | | consistent effective implementation of department policies and | | procedures and external agreements/contracts. | | | | Additional Job Duties: | | | | - Provide instruction to other employees of this or a similar job | | classification in all aspects of procedure and technique relating | | to the duties required by this job description unless such | | instruction requires a specialized certification which the | | employee doing the training does not have. | | - Facilitate on a regualar basis, adoption promotions, and animal | | awareness events with volunteers and animal networking groups in | | the community. | | - Must be able to travel outside of the community for training, as | | needed. | | - Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by the Director | | of Animal Protection. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Qualifications: | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Knowledge of animal control regulations, animal handling | | techniques, and animal physical and behavioral assessment. | | - Requires strong communication skills and organizational | | abilities. | | - Must be able to hear. | | - Specific vision abilities inclue close vision, distance vision, | | color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the | | abiltiy to adjust focus. | | - Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, | | tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; | | stoop, kneel, crouch; and taste or smell.
