They are in charge of measuring, mixing and pouring substances for projects and activities. Help the teacher in distributing supplies to students as needed during lesson time. They assist in cleaning or organizing the classroom, tables and chairs after each session to make sure that there is a safe environment for children to play in. The preschool teacher assistant work description also involves serving meals directly to students and making sure that they consume all the meal before they are dismissed from the table. It also entails taking care of the medical needs of children (assisting other staff members if necessary). A good preschool teacher assistant will remove toys that are not needed anymore and store them in a proper place.   • Punctual and reliable attendance, including the ability to open a classroom at 6am or close a classroom until 5:30pm if scheduled
  • Maintain positive working relationships with parents, and report on their childs progress, development, and daily activities
  • Learn and use Boys and Girls Club positive guidance techniques appropriate to your age group including consistent positive feedback and relationship building, zoning classroom areas, counting children before, during and after transitions, redirecting unwanted behavior, etc.
  • Work with individual children who need more support, or different support than a typically behaving child, including leading parent meetings or conducting assessments of childs development to support parents, school district, or pediatrician
  • Follow all licensing standards including maintaining adult to child ratios, consistently implementing the routine, maintaining childrens daily records, and having meaningful child focused interactions in the classroom
  • Maintain and keep a clean and sanitary classroom at all times, and assist in upkeep of all child care areas as required
  • Set and work towards yearly professional development goals based on appropriate Tier of Alaskas Core Knowledge and Competencies (AK CKCs)
  • Attend required trainings for child care licensing, Learn and Grow, and as assigned
