Physical Therapist (PT)- Outpatient

Work location: Texas Health Kaufman, 850 Ed Hall Drive, Kaufman, TX 75142
Work hours: PRN within the weekdays. Approximate clinic operating hours 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday
- Work a consistent 2 days a week (or more) schedule (hours can vary), on average, to maintain an Outpatient PT caseload.
Physical Therapy Department highlights:
Outpatient General (mostly orthopedic), 1:1 hour long appointments
Low acuity Acute Care – Includes ICU
Growth is a focus in our goals
Patient surveys weigh heavily – patient satisfaction is a Major focus metric
Currently 3 Full time PTs, 1 PRN (all experienced)
Majority Geriatric Population
Close “Community Culture” both with patient populations and in-house employees
Here’s What You Need
Bachelor's Degree Completion of a Physical Therapy program is required
No experience required
Outpatient experience or New Grad with interest in Outpatient PT
PT - Physical Therapist Texas Physical Therapy License Upon Hire required And
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
Good verbal and written communication skills in English; Problem solving ability; Ability to teach others; Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills
What You Will Do
Assist in approximately 1 hour acute care inpatient coverage as needed on days worked.
Performs age appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care
Obtains/verifies physician order for therapy and validates for appropriateness
Demonstrates competence in the performance of age appropriate patient assessment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.
Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home
Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy
As required, participates appropriately in departmental safety drills / emergency procedures
Documents and reports unusual occurrences, on the job injuries, and medical device malfunctioning
