WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a Software Engineer II, EADP who excels in team environments and are excited about building cloud native platforms that can scale with the demand of our business. This role is part of Enterprise Architecture & Developer Platforms which aggressively innovates solutions to drive growth while creating and implementing tools that help make everything else in the company possible. The candidate needs to have a strong understanding of technical concepts, excellent attention to detail, data accuracy, and data analysis, strong verbal and written communication skills, and be self-motivated and operates with a high sense of urgency and a high level of integrity.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON:

  • Evangelize and cultivate adoption of Global Platforms, open source software and agile principles within the organization

  • Ensure solutions are designed and developed using a scalable, highly resilient cloud native architecture

  • Deliver well-documented and well-tested code, and participate in peer code reviews

  • Design and develop tools and frameworks to improve security, reliability, maintainability, availability and performance for the technology foundation of our platform

  • Ensure product and technical features are delivered to spec and on-time

  • Collaborate with and consult other Nike development teams, architecture teams etc.

  • Explain designs and constraints to stakeholders and technical teams, gather alignment and buy-in

  • Provide responsive support and operations for the platforms you help build.

  • Work with product management to support product / service scoping activities

  • Work with leadership to define delivery schedules of key features through an agile framework

  • Be a key contributor to overall architecture, framework and design of global platforms

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:

This role is part of the Enterprise Architecture & Developer Platforms and work with Observability team

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Masters’ or Bachelors' degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • 4+ years of experience in large-scale production-grade software development & platform engineering.

  • The Monitoring and Observability engineer will be responsible for Designing, configuring, monitoring, implementing, and maintaining our observability solutions and troubleshooting IT systems and applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Experience of at least 4 + years of experience in development of Grafana Dashboards

  • Develop Metrics / monitoring Standardization - Logs/Metrics/Traces collection and Dashboards to display time-based data plots with Grafana a must.

  • Migration and enhancement of dashboard from existing product to Grafana dashboards.

  • Monitor the health and performance of our Grafana tools, ensuring high availability.

  • Respond promptly to updates, major incidents, and service disruptions, even outside of regular business hours.

  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure monitoring and observability best practices

  • Continuously refine our monitoring, alerting, and observability strategies.

  • Strong background in software engineering, with expertise in relevant programming languages (like Python, Java, Go) and cloud platforms (ex. AWS)

  • Provide technical support and guidance to other teams as necessary.

This role will have a specific focus on Grafana Observability Stack in a self-hosted and self-managed setting. The Grafana Observability Stack, encompassing Grafana, Grafana Agent, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, and k6, stands central to our operational insights and performance monitoring.This role needs an experienced Software Engineer with strong knowledge and experience in Kubernetes operations and with a proven track record of around 4 to 6 years in managing Grafana Observability Stack. The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient but also inherently curious, always delving into the vast world of open source documentation to unearth the best solutions.
