Stryker Corporation Sr. Staff Test Engineer – Embedded Systems in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Stryker Corporation seeks Sr. Staff Test Engineer -- Embedded Systems in Kalamazoo, MI to partner with connectivity technologists from around the organization in the development of hardware and software technology blocks and protocols used as enterprise standards for device to device and device to cloud connectivity. Analyze new embedded software, firmware, and hardware designs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality software delivery. Lead test strategy definition to include user acceptance testing (UAT), functional, integration, performance, system testing with testing tools, and test automation as appropriate. Review, execute, and evaluate project documentation including validation plans/summaries with test script outputs to ensure delivery of quality software. Design, develop, and execute verification and compliance test methods for hardware interfaces, embedded software, and network interfaces such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and USB. Write test software to simulate real world environments and conditions. Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies as appropriate. Function in an Agile (Scrum)/DevOps team while using ALM tools to help with defect tracking, traceability, release, and build management efforts. Participate in daily scrums, sprint planning, and closing to lead testing activities. Identify and partner with third-party vendors to drive execution and results of testing strategies. Work with leadership and team members to solicit process requirements and drive organizational change for continuous process improvements.

 

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Health Sciences, Biomedical Science, Engineering Management, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 6 years of experience developing or testing in a software, electrical engineering, or embedded medical device environment. Employer will also accept a Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Health Sciences, Biomedical Science, Engineering Management, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 4 years of experience developing or testing in a software, electrical engineering, or embedded medical device environment. Demonstrated Expertise (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): testing windows .NET embedded applications and in API testing; setting up test environments for verification and validation activities; leading, mentoring, and working with local and remote testing teams worldwide to drive verification and validation efforts; providing innovative solutions to automate embedded applications; and performing requirements management, including testing strategy, testing tools, risk analysis, defect tracking, code review and release management.
