All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1. Workers are needed to plant, maintain and harvest various vegetable crops, greenhouse tomatoes, strawberries and blueberries. Workers must have a working knowledge of and ability to perform various tasks required in greenhouse tomato production, including harvesting, grading, suckering, lowering, clipping and thinning. Workers will perform field work including planting, transplanting, weeding, thinning, hoeing and other tasks required in the planting, maintaining, and harvesting of various vegetable and berry crops. Workers will sort, wash, pack and otherwise prepare various crops for storage and shipping, as well as transport and deliver various crops from field to farm and/or retail stand. Workers will load and unload trucks and other farm vehicles, setup and operate various irrigation equipment, and cut brush and other vegetation in and around fields, buildings and equipment. Workers may operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, and western union on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid driver's license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers must be able to work in various extreme weather conditions from damp and cold spring and fall days to hot and humid summer days. Work is physically demanding, requiring workers to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform all duties assigned. Workers may be required to work 9-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through Saturday. Workers must be available for work on a Saturday. Daily beginning and ending times will vary depending on crop and other conditions. Workers will be given a 60-minute lunch which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as agreed upon by the crew and management. Workers can choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 60 minutes are up. Workers will also receive a 15-minute break in the morning and afternoon. Workers must be able to take direction in simple English.
