JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Monitors heart rhythm patterns of patients throughout the hospital setting, to detect abnormal pattern variances. Prepares and compiles medical records and processes patient orders. Performs the following essential duties and responsibilities, supporting the nursing philosophy. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, night shift, and/or on-call hours. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances. Observes screens of cardiac monitors and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm. Informs RN caring for the patient in an urgent manner of variances in pattern. Provides shift report to staff caring for the patient as requested. Completes appropriate documentation as required by standards. Measures length and height of patient\'s heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout and posts information on patient records. Triages ongoing appropriateness of tele services, discussing with supervisor. Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner. Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.
